Sunset Cruise

Three hours, the best light.

We leave in the late afternoon and anchor at the western end of the gulf. A meze platter, a glass of wine and a sunset in an empty bay.

What to know

  • It cools down in the evening — we'd bring a light jumper.
  • We can decorate the boat for a proposal or a birthday; just let us know in advance.
How the day goes

The heat lets go

The hardest hour of the day has passed. The crowd on the quay has thinned and the boats are heading home. We go the other way.

Engine down to a murmur

We move slowly towards the western end of the gulf. At this hour the sea turns to glass — the morning wind has dropped and the evening one hasn't arrived.

Anchored in Sarsala Bay

Where the pine forest comes down to the sea. Swim if you feel like it — the water feels warmer now than it did at noon, because the air has cooled.

The table is laid

Mezes, canapés and wine on the aft deck. The sun sets straight ahead of us, and we lay the table to face it.

The sun goes down

It takes about twenty minutes. The engine is off and the music is low. Most of our guests don't say a word during this part.

Home under the stars

There's little light pollution over the gulf of Göcek, so the sky is clear on the way back. We switch off the lantern and just sit for ten minutes.
